KiKa – racing for kids
Every Sunday at 12:30 our Kids Kart School (KiKa) teaches children the rules of safe driving – playfully, safely and with plenty of fun.
The main goal: safe driving
Children aged seven and up can join the Kids Kart School. The primary aim is to teach kids the rules of safe driving in a fun environment.
Every Sunday, 12:30
Children take part in three 10-minute timed training sessions, guided by the on-duty race director.
Age 7+ · min. 1.38 m
Open to children from seven years and at least 1.38 metres tall, on the practice area of the Rostock Kart Club.
Free kart license
Every child receives a personal kart driving license with their details and photo – free of charge and with no obligation.
€30 per session
Three timed runs cost €30. The goal is to introduce karting, the rules and the signals of motorsport in a playful way.
From first lap to kart license
- Each Sunday the race director stamps every completed run in the child’s license.
- Only runs where the instructions were followed and met are counted.
- Parents can closely follow their children’s progress at all times.
- After 10 training sessions and passing the P II exam, children earn a license for 9 hp karts.
- They can keep racing in the kids club on Sundays at a special price, or become a member of the Rostock Kart Club.

Know your flags
Understanding flag signals is essential on the track. These are the signals every young driver learns in the Kids Kart School.

National flag
Held up and lowered to start the race – equivalent to the light start.

Chequered flag
Ends the race or timed training. Complete one cool-down lap at moderate speed and enter the pit lane.

Let faster karts pass
Held: let one faster kart by. Waved: let several faster karts pass.

Danger on track
Same as yellow flashing lights. Reduce speed visibly and audibly, be ready to brake, no overtaking, keep distance.

Warning / disqualification
You made a mistake or behaved unsportingly. Go to the pits immediately and report to the race director: stop & go, time penalty or disqualification.

Race interruption
Immediately reduce to walking pace. No overtaking, stop in a line before the waved flag and wait for further instructions.

Track clear
End of danger and end of the overtaking ban – racing resumes.
Exam topics P I & P II
The exam covers everything from race procedure to the ideal line and kart technology.
Timed training
The green light starts the training. It is used to get to know the track and the karts, warm up the tyres and set good, consistent lap times. Faster vehicles are let by with a hand signal.
Qualifying
The green light starts qualifying, which determines the grid based on the fastest lap. Leave the pits with enough distance to the kart ahead. Faster vehicles are let by with a hand signal.
Race procedure
Drive an in-lap on the race director’s signal, stop before the waved red flag and line up on the grid before the red light. Light start: lights and yellow lights go out, five red lamps light up one by one, lights off starts the race.
Hand signals
Raise your hand when entering the pits, to indicate an overtaking manoeuvre, to say thank you, and to show the flags you have seen.
Ideal line
Corner technique outside–inside–outside, adjust speed before the corner, overtake on the inside of the corner.
Slalom & danger
Drive the marked course around the pylons without touching them. In danger: avoid the obstacle and brake hard before it – ideally both.
Start / kart technology
Unload the rear axle, check whether the engine is warm or cold, open the choke when cold, switch the ignition to 1, start with the pull cord, then close the choke once running.
